Helping You Reach the Peak

Guided Expeditions by Tom Armes and Alice Armes

Have you always wanted to climb to the peak of a mountain but need a professional to get you there? I can help!

Mountain Walking & Climbing provides guided expeditions throughout all mountain and moorland regions in the UK. As an experienced mountaineer, I have extensive experience guiding individuals safely up and down various mountains and hills.

About Myself and Alice

I am qualified as a Mountain Leader, Hill & Moorland Leader and a Walking Group Leader. I have had a keen interest in the outdoors since studying Leisure Management at Thames Valley University.

I am currently a full-time General Manager of two hotels in Cambridge and therefore balance my services as a Mountain Leader on weekends, holidays and during other spare time.

I do most of my mountaineering in Snowdonia, but am very familiar with the Brecon Beacons, Lake District, Peak District and the Cairngorms in Scotland. I have also climbed Mont Blanc (five times), the Matterhorn, Elbrus (in Russia), Kilimanjaro, Mount Toubkal (twice), Monch and Briehorn. I have completed the national “3 peaks” competition four times, 'Yorkshire Three Peaks' and the Exmoor 30 30'.

Alice, my daughter, has recently gained her Lowland Leader Award, Paddle Sport Instructor Level 1 and is qualified as a Duke of Edinburgh Assessor. Alice is currently studying Outdoor Education & Management at Worcester University.

We are both members of the Mountain Training Association and the British Mountaineering Council.

I live in Marlow with my wife, Wendy, and two children, Alice and Alfie, who are also keen hill and mountain walkers.
